75? NOT OUT
If your laughter lines are anything to go by, you’ve had a great fun-filled life, most of the time.
Better still, you continue to love and laugh; not forgetting your cheeky smile and your attitude to life.
After all, you have travelled around the Greek Islands, the Spanish Coasts, and the Italian mainland.
And you will never forget how you managed to find a beautiful woman, marry her, and know she would always be with you, no matter what fate is preparing for you both.
And after all these years, she still giggles at your jokes, and childish behaviour; well, sometimes she does.
Your mind travels back in time as you remember your wonderful parents, long departed, and the way they had brought you up, to be polite, and respect your elders.
You see youngsters working in shops, who don’t believe in please, and thank you.
The Me! Me! Me! Generation are in control, aren’t they?
Alas, older people are frequently in need of health care. They need various drugs, and operations; many times, to save their lives as cancer is often a killer.
And as they age the elderly are more cynical and not stupid as politicians often believe they are. They ignore what the politicians say; often a pack of lies; as it’s what they do that counts, and not some meaningless words.
It’s such a shame young people are so easily led this way as all that glitters is not necessarily GOLD.
I remember these words from my father before he passed away.
‘Never trust a politician, son.’
I didn’t, and never will believe in them.
Alas, all my family died from cancer, due to them being heavy smokers.
I never had one puff, as the smoking made my eyes water.
And I’m so glad I didn’t.
Now at 76 Not Out, I am blessed with a wonderful wife.
