FEAR OF THE UNKNOWN? By Rick Haynes

My short story is exactly 100 words, excluding the title. Yes, it's a Drabble, but with a note at the bottom. And all is not what it seems. Enjoy.

The axe swept down on an unprotected neck as yet again a girl died needlessly. No one knew why she had to die, not even her executioner. Some of the crowd hissed, others jeered, their fists rising menacingly.

“Call this an execution,” the people yelled as they turned around. “What about our future?” The shouts continued as they wondered; who would be next?

Too many had died in such a short period of time.

“This makes no sense,” Lady Weaver said.

“Who wrote this rubbish?” stormed Lord Tarracott.

“With you lot, it’s more, Game of Moans now,” retorted the director.

AUTHOR’s NOTE

With so many characters dying in each episode of Game of Thrones, I wondered how the cast would react when member after member was written out of the story. I'm sure the demise of so many characters each week made all the actors wonder how long they would last before the dreaded chop-chop arrived. Maybe the White Walkers were safe as they were all needed for the big finale. Everyone else? Who knows but I'd keep an eye open if I were you, as soon, the series will return.
