I Miss You Telling Me I Look An Absolute State
On my blog this week, I'm pleased to post a poem from a fledging author, Dan Hayter. I'm sure he'd be delighted to read your comments.
I miss you telling me I look an absolute state by Dan Hayter
Come on over, sit by my window
And tell me everything you haven't done today
I know I miss you, even sat here and we having nothing much to say
We don't do much, just sit here but there's no other way
Sometimes I'll hold you, in my arms, I long for that day
But we're separated by glass and a whole load of rules
Don't go here don't touch that and make sure you stay indoors
Separation just makes me want you more
So read my lips and know I'm forever yours
So get that old chair, put it right there and look into my eyes
I still miss you, two metres apart I want you by my side
We have so much, still left to do when we can restart our lives
But until then, I'll stay on your mind and you will stay on mine
But we're separated by glass and a whole load of rules
Don't go here don't touch that and make sure you stay indoors
Separation just makes me want you more
So read my lips and know I'm forever yours
I woke up this morning unshaven, shaking messy hair, messy head
Rolled over to stare at the space you don't take up in the bed
Poured a cup of coffee into one single cup
And thought about the reasons I didn't want to get up
Stared in the mirror just to see another face
I miss you telling me I look a terrible state
I miss you saying I need to have a shave
So I just drink and drink until I blur the nights into days
But we're separated by glass and a whole load of rules
Don't go here don't touch that and make sure you stay indoors
Separation just makes me want you more
So read my lips and know that I'm forever yours
